The Lions Club of Petrolia held the annual draw for the Giant Christmas Sock full of toys at their business meeting Dec. 15th. The winning ticket was drawn by Lion Gail Tanner and the lucky winner was Don Phillips of Andrew St., Petrolia. Shown in the picture are winner Don Phillips and Christmas Sock Draw chairman Lion Jim Stapleton. Proceeds totaling $3100.00 from the draw will be donated to Christmas for Everyone.
District Governor Don McKessock was invited to sit on Santa's (A.K.A. Lion Art Parkes) knee at the Lions Club of Petrolia's Christmas party. Governor Don said he had been a good Lion all year long.
District Governor Don McKessock presented the Petrolia and District Leo Club with a Five Year banner patch from L. C. I. F. The Lions Club of Petrolia was presented with a Five Year chevron as the Leo’s sponsor, to be placed on their awards banner.

Petrolia and District Leo Club presented Gov. Don McKessock with a cheque for $75.00 for the charity of his choice [Eyes Right]. The Lions Club of Petrolia also presented Gov Don with a cheque for his favourite charity in honour of his Official Visit.

London Central Lions Club was recognized for their $50,000 pledge at the Annual Meeting of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation on June 19, 2008.

The 10 lucky winners were from all over SW Ontario. Lions Eugene Graham (Petrolia), Don Godfrey (Sarnia), Doug Dew (Petrolia) and Al Taylor (Sarnia Township) look on as Project Chair Lion Manfred Altmann presents a cheque to Sharon Cathcart at the Canadian Diabetes office in Sarnia.
Talk about a Lions Family! Lucan Lions Club can boast of four generations of Lions. DG Lion Don McKessock is pictured with Lion John Young (left) and grand-dad Jim Young. Lion John's Dad,Jeff Young, and great-grandfather J. Alex Young were also Lucan Lions.
Lambeth Lions Club recently honoured two long serving Lions. In the picture below are Lions Cliff Faulkner (right) and Adriaan Van Dongen (left) receiving their “Melvin Jones Fellow Awards”. These are the highest awards most Lions can achieve. Both Lions are charter members and have served tirelessly since our club formed in 1977. Their continuing efforts help the club live up to our motto “We Serve”. Lion Cliff has been club president several times and also has held almost every position in Lions up to and including Deputy District Governor. Lion Adriaan has also been president more than once and has held most positions including District Governor.
The OPENING OF THE LEAMINGTON LIONS PLAYGROUND was completed on August 6, 2008 at a cost of $250,000.00. It was supported from a grant from the Trillium Foundation, Municipality of Leamington, United Food & Commercial workers and the residents of Leamington. It is well used by the local people and their comments are that it is great for the kids and long overdue. It will stand as a legacy of the Leamington Lions for years to come.
The Leamington Lions Club held their Annual Tomato Fest Pancake Breakfast on August 17,2008. Pictured above are members cooking and serving pancakes and sausages to our patrons. This is truly a member project as they show up at 6:30 a.m. to setup and start cooking. The Club raised a net profit of 41,415.76. A thank you to all the members who gave of their time for this project. This is truly men at work
Sarnia Lion President Don Godfrey and Project Chair Lion Manfred Altmann presented a thank-you plaque to the Princess Auto Sarnia Store to show Lions appreciation for their support of the successful Zone 24W Tractor Draw. The Lions Clubs of Zone 24W raised over $7300 was raised for Diabetes.
The Kingsville Lions operated a food booth at the John R. Homestead Blueberry Social on August 8th & 9th. Hot dogs, blueberry pie and blueberry sundaes were the hit of the day. Visiting from Hamilton Ontario were two Guide Dogs in training from Lions Foundation Canada with foster parents Pam & Kevin Dibling. Ellie on the right will be training soon to be a Special Skills Dog and Peyton on the left is still in puppy training. Looking on is Lion Carolyn Oshell.
