Hyde Park Country Cruizin’ Raises $14,000 for S.A.R.I.

Hyde Park and District Lions of District A-1 held a classic car cruise every Thursday night from May to September at Steve Plunkett’s Fleetwood Farms. The Club raised and presented a cheque for $11,000 to S.A.R.I. Therapeutic Riding at the final cruise night Sept. 25th. After the dust settled, we were able to send a further $3,000 for a total of $14,000. The classic car drivers donated the funds through entrance donations, a 50/50 draw and T-shirt and hat sales. Holding the cheque is Executive Director Susan Morel along with founders of S.A.R.I. Syd and Jeanne Greenberg. Acting as M.C. is Lion President Doug Riehl.

Lambeth Melvin Jones

Lambeth Lions Club recently honoured two long serving Lions. In the picture below are Lions Cliff Faulkner (right) and Adriaan Van Dongen (left) receiving their “Melvin Jones Fellow Awards”. These are the highest awards most Lions can achieve. Both Lions are charter members and have served tirelessly since our club formed in 1977. Their continuing efforts help the club live up to our motto “We Serve”. Lion Cliff has been club president several times and also has held almost every position in Lions up to and including Deputy District Governor. Lion Adriaan has also been president more than once and has held most positions including District Governor.
